My Party Is Full Of Racists!!

October 27, 2012

This title comes as NO SURPRISE to me as I have been saying this for years. Especially even more so with the infestation of the Tea Party aspects within “My Republican Party” of late.

As I have passed on and stated many times, those who claim “Tea Party Affiliations” from my area are nothing more than the sons and daughters, grandsons and granddaughters of those who were Klansmen or at least claimed “Southern Traditionalist!”

I KNOW WHO THEY ARE!!

I would impress to my readers to PLEASE click on the links below as this is so accurate and enlighting.  It is from the Huffington Post today.

Colin Powell’s former chief of staff condemned the Republican Party on Friday night, telling MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, “My party is full of racists.”

Retired Army Col. Lawrence Wilkerson made the comment in response to Mitt Romney campaign surrogate John Sununu’s suggestion on Thursday that Powell’s endorsement of President Barack Obama’s re-election was motivated by race. Wilkerson, who served as Powell’s chief of staff when the general was secretary of state during the first George W. Bush term, told Schultz that he respected Sununu “as a Republican, as a member of my party,” but did not “have any respect for the integrity of the position that [Sununu] seemed to codify.”

How the GOP Destroyed Its Moderates

October 14, 2012

As I have told many of my readers I have been very busy working 10 ½ to 11 ½ a day and I have found a subject, and thus the time, to post on this current phenomena subject with reference to the upcoming election.

I am writing this posting from the viewpoint of growing up in a Moderate Republican family….or what some are calling today, “RINOS.”  The current Republican “Du Jour” Party today has set itself to frantically, fanatically expunge its moderates, quasi-moderates, suspected moderates, and fellow travelers of moderates chose as its standard bearer the lineal heir, biographically and genealogically, to its moderate traditions.

Moderates, or at least relative moderates, do continue to exist in the Republican Party.  They merely do not exercise power in any meaningful, open way.  They provide off-the-record quotations to reporters, expressing unease over whichever radical turn the party has taken at any given moment.  They can be found in Washington and elsewhere rolling their eyes at their colleagues.   There are still the odd figures, such as John McCain, with nothing left to lose who will even deliver a forceful assault on the party’s uncompromising direction.  For the most part, “Republican Moderation” is a kind of secret creed, a “Freemasonry” aspect of the right to speak as such.

Today “Moderate Republicans” lack the institutions that might legitimize, to even present a voice, or language to express themselves.  Instead today, “Conservatism” is the only acceptable ideology, and the Party will NOT allow any open arguments with itself to at least take into consideration a much less extreme agenda.  Any assemblance of what could appear as a “Debate” in the Republican Party is entirely between genuine ultra-conservative ideological warriors, plus some uncomfortable self-preserving conscripts, on nothing more than what can be called a self-imposed “Inquisition” to purge via “Political Witch Hunts” for the secret heresies of Moderates within the Party.

To win the Republican nomination, Romney stood shoulder to shoulder with his party’s ultra right reactionary wing.  When Romney took on his hapless opponents, he assailed them from the right, as “Soft on Immigration” or Anti-Capitalist.”  Now that he is on the national rounds campaigning, and expounding a softer moderate view to the general electorate in hopes of gaining the independents and moderates across the spectrum; rest assured should he get into office the Ultra Conservatives will be in control and pushing their extreme agendas that will ultimately harm, if not destroy, the Middle Class citizens of this country.

It was not like this when I was growing up and my parents were the voting Republicans of their time.  Republican moderates in the early 1960s held a place of influence and comfort within their party that is hard to imagine today.  The worldview of the party’s Rockefeller faction was formed and propagated with the help of organizations such as the Ripon Society, Republican Advance, and the Committee on Economic Development, and publications such as the New York Herald Tribune, Confluence, and Advance.  Then when the great wave of the “Goldwater Movement” arrived in the early 1960s, with the explicit goal of cleansing the party of moderates and re-making it in the image of monolithic conservatism, the moderates fought back, albeit using more gentlemanly methods than those often employed against them

Moderates at the GOP convention in 1964 proposed a resolution condemning extremism of all varieties.  Goldwater supporters voted it down, their position echoed by the candidate’s famous declaration that “Extremism in the Defense of Liberty is No Vice” and that “Moderation in the Pursuit of Justice is No Virtue.”  Many moderates stalked out of the convention, including Michigan Governor George Romney and his teenage son, Mitt.  (My how times have changed!!)

When conservatives defeated “Moderate Republican California Senator Thomas Kuchel,” he lashed out at what he called a “Fanatical Neo-Fascist Political Cult” in the grips of a “Strange Mixture of Corrosive Hatred and Sickening Fear.”

The “Moderate Republican Tradition” had always leaned heavily on elitism, which abhorred demagoguery and the crude appeals to self-interest that they correctly identified with the machine hacks and Southern Racists of the Democratic Party” in the 1960’s.  As I have written in the past, it was “Maryland Republican Governor Spiro Agnew” who toured the South and converted the “White Democratic Southerner Klansmens” into the Republican Party.  With this accomplishment Nixon brought him on as his Vice President running mate.

Nixon’s strategy of counting upon “White Southern Tradition Resentment” began to identify the party as a LESS congenial place for thoughtful, educated people.  Nixon’s re-branding of the party helped set in motion a long-term political swap, in which Republicans slowly lost support among white voters with a college education while gaining traction among the white working class.

The transformation is now so complete that Rick Santorum can proudly announce “We will never have the Elite, ‘Smart’ People on our side!”  Of course “Smart” referring not to native intelligence, but to those who aspire to a certain level of intellectual respectability.

What remains of “Moderation” within the party has taken on a definition very distinct from the meaning that it held originally.  Unlike the moderate and liberal Republicans of yore, today’s “Moderates” generally identify themselves as “Conservatives,” probably mainly out of fear of being ostracized or even expunged by the Party.

So in conclusion when Mitt Romney is now going around presenting his new found “Chameleon Moderate and Middle Class Kinder” side placating and pandering to the “Working Middle Classes” for their votes; let it be known the ultimate result will be in the vision of the Rush Limbaughs, Koch Brothers, and other Extreme Voices of Right-Wing “Purity Forces.”

92 Years Since 19th Amendment (Woman Suffrage) Was Ratified!

August 19, 2012

The motivation for this posting was stimulated from a posting on another’s blog site called, The Progressive Professor.  I highly recommend my readers to check him out:

Below is the link I am referring to from his posting:

92 Years Since 19th Amendment (Woman Suffrage) Was Ratified!

I, along with other blog sites I interact with, have written extensively on the current “Republican’s War Against Women.”  One can point to the many repressive laws passed or proposed such as in States like Georgia’s, or Virginia’s State Legislatures.

These current repressive laws against women in this country are almost beyond my comprehension.  Why would any man support laws repressing their wives, mothers, or more especially their own daughters or granddaughters?  I have stated this before and I reiterate it once again, “Those whom support these repressive laws against their daughters and granddaughters, do not deserve the blessings of these children.”

It is made perfectly known by the “Ultra Conservative Religious Right Republicans” that these laws they are supporting and perpetuating is based on THEIR EXTREME interpretations of passages within the Bible.

From my good friend Dog Gone with the blog site, “A Penigma – a mystery, under a pseudonym” has also written extensively on this subject.  I highly recommend checking this site out too:

Well I could go on and on with this but are we NOT HEARING this exact same villainization of the Muslim religion and the Koran which some interpret as forcing women to wear fully covering clothing making sure even their ankles are covered or they would be beaten for showing lewd behavior?  A woman is also not allowed to drive a car being by herself and if so demonstrates they are really sluts and offers an open invitation to being raped by any man who would desire too?  She brought it on herself and was really just asking for it because she really just wanted it….RIGHT?  How is this any different to Rush Limbaugh’s recent rant on women and contraception?

Below is an example of the nihilistic, prejudictic, viewpoints being blatantly propagated by those I am speaking of within my Republican Party bringing shame onto us all.

A perfect example is the “Tea Party Candidate” for Wisconsin State Representative, Cindy Pugh, (Her own name is probably pronounce POO. There, how’s that for a joke dumb ass) who used this photo recently comparing a Muslim women and child clad in traditional Islamic garb to garbage bags….because it is real funny and demonstrates how she really feels about things (wink wink nudge nudge) so the “True Conservative Republicans” should support her in this next election.

(Caption) Why did this woman get angry when I told her she had three lovely children?

Yes the “Tea Party Candidate,” Cindy Pugh, also uses her Facebook profile to defend Scott Walker, criticize Barack Obama, and boast about her ongoing campaign to defeat incumbent state Rep. Steve Smith, a Moderate Republican from Mound.  (We all should be so proud?…)  Yes for some we need to regress back to, “The Good O’l Days” where everyone knew their place and stop trying to change things.

I will conclude with the closing statement I made on the original Professor’s site:

Yes there are some that would have us return to the “The Good O’l Days” but like the great black woman comedian made famous from the 1960’s and 70’s, Moms Mabley, stated, “You know kids, Moms is OLD…..I remember the “Good O’l Days”…….They Weren’t That Good!!”

Man Kills Six In A Sikh Temple Shooting

August 6, 2012

Today in the news the report came over that a gunman killed six people and critically wounded three at a Sikh temple during Sunday services before police shot him dead.  Police stated that the attack is being treated as a domestic terrorism act.

My instant thoughts were of an article a while back where an ultra-conservative “Arizona Wing Nut” man shot and killed a Sikh man outside his Quick Shop Store in Arizona because he felt justified in killing one of those “Rag Heads” who flew a plane into the World Trade Towers.  Are we dealing with this same kind of thinking again here today in Milwaukee, WI?!?!

Yes the shooter was so ignorant he thought a Sikh Indian man was the same as a Muslim and that was all he needed for his justification for killing that poor innocent man outside his own store.

I will close with one of my favorite lines from the movie “Hair Spray” made by the John Waters’ character, “Motor Mouth Mabelle,” because I think it applies well here.

“You better brace yourselves for a whole lotta ugly comin’ at you from a never-ending parade of stupid.”

“The Radical Camera,” a History in Images of New York’s Photo League

August 3, 2012

Today I went to the Columbus Museum of Art and viewed “The Radical Camera, a History in Images of New York’s Photo League” exhibit.

Every so often people need to be reminded of the tectonic shifts and the exploding world that photographers can cause with just documenting and forcing everyone to face and truly view their world around them.

This is such the case of what the New York’s Photo League.  The Photo League was a cooperative of amateur and professional photographers in New   York who banded together around a range of common social and creative causes.  Most of the members were first-generation Americans who strongly believed in progressive political and social causes.

The League was active from 1936 to 1951 and included among its members some of the most noted American photographers of the mid-20th century.  Their 1936 thru 1951 collection of the most innovative, culturally relevant and influential photographers who took to the streets and showed us life as it had been rarely explored before.

Photographers like Lisette, Model, or Weegee, Avedon, Leipzig, Orkin and Weston and other photographers are genre-defining photojournalists who created stark and unwavering images that offered unique glimpses into a world that until their, groundbreaking work, was infrequently or not even explored by mainstream photography. Instead of posed photos of images by families, the New York’s Photo League documented rampant social change, the great divide between classes, racial issues, and images of New York City in the 40s.  By photograph and documenting the uglier side of what life was like to others, these men and women with cameras were soon being labeled as “Communists” by the US government and others of the extreme right wing conservative aspects.  In short, we have these artists to thank for the way that photojournalism has evolved today.

In 1947 the League was formally declared subversive and placed on the U.S. Department of Justice blacklist by Attorney General Tom C. Clark.  At first the League fought back and mounted an impressive “This Is the Photo League exhibition in 1948”, but after its member and long-time FBI informer Angela Calomiris had testified in May 1949 that the League was a front organization for the Communist Party, the Photo League was finished. Recruitment dried up and old members left, including one of its founders and former president, Paul Strand, as well as Louis Stettner. The League was forced to disband in 1951.

The New York’s Photo League had become a casualty of the Cold War, and the McCarthyism purge or red scare which targeted left wing activists.  When the Photo League closed its doors in 1951, after being listed as a subversive organization by the U.S. Attorney General, it had already enjoyed an historic 15 year run, which helped to change the direction of American photography, and counted amongst its members some of the leading photographers of the twentieth century.

In conclusion the New   York’s Photo League which had been inaugurated at the height of the Great Depression, the loose knit League turned their cameras on a world that had not been the subject of serious photography before.  Freed to shoot quickly and unobtrusively the ordinary life on the streets and in the workplaces of America, many seized the opportunity to document the inequities which hard economic times had brought into stark relief.

The show today does nothing but touch’s us with the nostalgic power of their witness to another age.  Times such as when America’s cities were more like extended villages whose social life was still conducted on the stoops, sidewalks, and playgrounds.

Drone Hacked By University Of Texas At Austin Research Group

July 1, 2012

I will start off this posting by bringing up the fact that a wide range of unmanned aerial surveillance vehicles operated by both governmental and corporate entities, with commercial and general aviation traffic across the nation’s skies by September 2015. (I’m sure spying on citizens of the U.S. with no warrants will be fervently disavowed by the Government Authorities as I am sure they would never do such a thing as this…..Bull Shit!!)

Yes this current Teabagger Republican Majority held Congress feeling that the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) wasn’t moving fast enough on the subject of Drones, Congress put in a mandate in the FAA funding bill DEMANDING that they “quickly integrate a wide range of unmanned survalance aerial vehicles, operated by both governmental and corporate entities, with commercial and general aviation traffic across the nation’s skies.”

Well to let everyone know, in my own area where my home is, a highflying U.S. Navy surveillance drone has already crashed in Dorchester County, Maryland, where my home is located.  The aircraft was one of five Global Hawk drones the service acquired from the Air Force to test as high-altitude maritime surveillance aircraft.  The $100 million craft, which is unarmed, can carry a range of payloads, from sophisticated cameras to eavesdropping equipment.  The Global Hawk drones have flown reconnaissance missions over war zones in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, andYemen.

Now to make this story complete, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security dared aTexas University Research Group to bring down a flying drone, the team accepted the challenge and did just that.  The really interesting thing is and I was sure that this not only could be done but HAD BEEN DONE before the Texas University test even happened…..and it was not that expensive to hack the drone.  The University of Texas at Austin scientists, led by Professor Todd Humphreys, managed to bring down a flying drone with a unit called a “SPOOFER” costing just $1,000.  The research group gained control of the University-owned drone by using a device to hack its GPS system.

“Spoofing” a drone’s GPS system works, as well as the advantages of this tactic over GPS-Jammers.  Jammers work by causing the problems of muddling the GPS signals, and “SPOOFERS” are a giant leap forward in this technology.  They actually manipulate the navigation computers with false information that looks real to the drone.

The BBC notes that this could be the same technique employed by Iran when it captured a large UNDAMAGED American drone last year.

Fanfare for the Common Man

June 5, 2012

I thought that with the “Recall Election of Wisconsin’s Governor Scott Walker” today, I would post this song by Aaron Copland called “Fanfare for the Common Man.”  The song was written in 1942 for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra when American Citizens had a clear mind of who to empower and still had the fresh mind of the 1%, when left unchecked would allow their Greed, Predatory Capitalist, Conmen, and Thieving tendencies to take over.

It does appear that per the current polls today, Scott Walker will prevail this recall in Wisconsin.  But this is more to the fact that the current generation does not remember how many died, sacrificed all, to hand to their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the rights to be treaded humanely, with honor, and respect.

Scott Walker has run a corrupt government, a government which has taken away labor rights and favored the wealthy over the average Wisconsin citizen, and allowed himself to be influenced and purchased by right wing interests led by the Koch Brothers.

It appears that time has taken its toll on the memories of this current generation of American Citizens of what it use to be like for the Working Middle Class before the 1930’s.  If Walker wins, it will be a major setback to the progressive movement, embolden conservatives, including the Tea Party Movement, and the other “Bully Governors”, and could affect the State’s vote plus the National vote for President and Congress in November.

Well I say, once again just like our Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers knew, it is better to fight and lose, than sit back and allow regressive policies to be emboldened and affect the nation as a whole! We must not cave in, but instead, continue to fight for basic principles of fairness and equity! The current generation will soon have to learn this lesson once again but will have to pick up the fight for human dignity coming from behind the abuses and regressive mandates that will already be installed.  It would have been much easier to fight to keep what they already had.  I guess each generation has to learn their own lessons.

The true and sad outcome for the State of Wisconsin is if Scott Walker does win and keeps up the worker’s abuse legislative mandates, doesn’t the Free Enterprise System still work and applied here?

An example of what I am talking about is if I were a very good teacher or police officer doing my job well, wouldn’t I decide to move to a State that appreciates and rewards those professions with respect, dignity and honor.

What I am saying those good and talented employees will eventually move and relocate to an area where a living wage can be earned with respectful treatment, leaving the “Lesser Than” behind to fill those ranks in Wisconsin.  In the long run this is “Where Water Seeks It’s Own Level,” and the State Of Wisconsin will be the looser in the long run.

I am thinking of those who escaped the economic enslavement of “Company Coal Towns” of West Virginia.  Those with the intelligence, foresight, and clarity of mind, to move to other more economic opportunity areas leaving the illiterate, less intelligence, behind in those coal mines.  Are these the type of people you would want for a workforce pool to draw from, teaching your children or policing the towns and neighborhoods?

This is what Wisconsin is going to get should Governor Scott Walker withstand the recall.  Wisconsin was once better than this and still could be.  It will all be left to the voters today.

In conclusion, I do take comfort and solace with the fact that Freedom, Civil Rights, and Worker’s Rights, will be much like Pandora’s Box; once opened and let out, you can never force the Freedoms and those Rights that were once enjoyed by the Working Middle Class back into the Box, no matter how hard others try.  In the long run, these reapplied shackles of repression will be thrown off once again in due time.

The Justice Department Throws Down The Gauntlet To Florida Governor Rick Scott: Stop Illegal Purging Of Voter Rolls!

June 1, 2012

NEWS FLASH:

The Justice Department under Attorney General Eric Holder has finally taken action, throwing down the gauntlet to Florida Governor Rick Scott to cease and desist from illegal purging of the voter rolls in theSunshineState, including the elderly, Latinos and Hispanics, African Americans, and others, including college students.

A 91 year old man, who has voted consistently for 70 years and served in World War II, was told he could not vote. Others who have had the right are being denied it with threatening letters, putting them under unnecessary stress about a basic American right, the right to vote.

Floridais right now breaking the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which included Florida because of its past discrimination against African Americans, and their long history of racial segregation and racial violence.

Scott is lawless, reckless, defiant, abusive, and a disgrace to all law abiding Floridians! Having evaded prison for Medicare fraud, he is arrogant and aggressive in setting out to fix the 2012 Presidential Election in the same fashion of denying the right to vote, as occurred in the Presidential Election of 2000, leading to the disastrous eight years of George W. Bush!

It is good to see that the Obama Administration is not going to allow prejudice, corruption, scandal, and discrimination to interfere with the right to vote!

In many ways, this situation sadly reminds us of Alabama Governor George Wallace and Georgia Governor Lester Maddox, two racists who disgraced their states and the nation during the 1960s, with their attacks on civil rights. What Rick Scott is doing will doom his name in history, but then it must be said that it is doubtful that Scott even cares what damage and harm he is doing to his reputation, since he is such a despicable human being!

If only the recall method was allowed in Florida as it is in many other states, including Wisconsin, which will determine the fate of another “Bully” Governor, Scott Walker, next Tuesday!

It is a sad statement when today’s Republican Party cannot withstand honest elections to put forth their platform.

Essay On The Responsibility Of Paying Taxes

May 31, 2012

It does seem odd to me that here in the United States the current attitude with many is that “Corporations are Citizens” but on the other hand should not pay any taxes to support their responsible citizenship obligations to our society.

Even since 1993, The Queen of England has been made to pay income tax and capital gains tax on her personal income.  Do the United States Corporations have the self-importance hubris of being greater than the Queen?  How did they get the non-thinking, mindless followers to sign onto this level of non-inclusive status for which they are enjoying the benefits so much today?  Do these Corporations not benefit in the police protection, fire fighter protection, armed services to protect the shores of our homeland?

Do they not benefit from the level of infrastructure such as paved roads for shipping their products from one location to the next, safe airports for their air travel, improvements and reliability in the electrical grid for which they so very much depend on to conduct business?

Today many companies are dependent of the subsidized workforce to make their profits on.  Many companies today in the United States only offer a pay scale that no one can support themselves much less a family.  I can give the chicken processing industry as a good example.  Most of their workers live in taxpayers’ subsidized housing, living on taxpayers’ subsidized food stamps to feed themselves and family to live on.  But the local and state governments have given a 10 plus year tax deferment to the chicken industry because they brought employment into the area.  With all of this “Not collecting Taxes, and paying out $Millions to subsidize their labor force, how is this benefiting the area.  We are paying out more than we are getting in return.

The Town of Cambridge has for the last 40 years been giving out these Tax Deferments to many companies who after their 10 year time frame is up and are supposed to start returning back to the community by paying Taxes owed, just pull up stakes and moved to another area to negotiate yet another 10 year Tax Deferment.

I would ask how much did Mitt Romney gain from Tax Deferment Benefits with Bain Capital sucking from the Tax Payers over the years, and then only to borrow against, dismantle and sell off, ending the productive jobs of many citizens in those areas.

I say it is time for the American Tax Payers to sit up and take notice of this “Corporate Welfare System” that has been employed and sold as being “Business Friendly” has cost the citizen tax payers $Billions over the last 40 years and still have nothing to show for it.

Hence The Portrait Of A Teabagger

“If You Preserve Secrecy, Half The Battle’s Won.” The Khmer Rouge principle.

May 22, 2012

Quietly, going on today, in Florida under the Republican state legislature that has three fourths of the members of their party, and with a corrupt, former Medicare and Medicaid fraud executive, Rick Scott, able to be elected Governor with no political experience, but having Tea Party support; 180,000 poor, black, Hispanic, college student, and elderly voters will soon be off the voting rolls, without any recourse for most, with the design to fix the election of the members of Congress, and the Presidency, in the Republicans’ hands!

The Republicans have also made registration of new voters much more difficult a procedure, and they are ready to do what happened in 2000 use corrupt methods to help fix the vote, which led to the contested election of George W. Bush, by 537 votes, throwing the election to Bush over Al Gore, who had a national popular vote lead of over a half million votes.

This is not unique to Florida because across the country, many Republican controlled States are purging the voting roles of those who would be voting against the Republican Party.  These same State legislators are also passing anti-worker’s rights laws that basically give cart blanch to employers to extort and exploit the Working Middle Classes.  They are also quietly pushing through laws giving contribution rewards of special “Tax Breaks,” or removing the responsibility of corporate taxes, and deregulation that does nothing to benefit workers and only makes sure corporations continue raping America.

The results are many Working Middle Class people suffering the brunt of the economic greed which lead to this Depression Downturn.  I give the example of the construction worker, his wife, and their five children were living in a comfortable, three bedroom home.  The family now resides in a donated trailer on a local campground, having downgraded from about 1900 square feet to about 215.  The hard Working Middle Class family’s slide into homelessness started nearly two years ago when the husband lost his construction job.  The family’s choice was when the money got tight; the family started having to make some difficult choices.  Do you go ahead and make the house payment and keep a roof over your head but have no lights and no water, or do you go ahead and keep those utilities on and forego the house payment, and hope that you can get it caught up?  This scenario just kept getting worse to where it got further and further behind until we wound up losing the home.  This all lays directly right back to the Deregulation of Banks and Corporations laws that were voted and signed through at Midnight on Fridays in the 2000 to 2004 time frame.

Those who did not look deeper into the truth of what was really going on behind the veiled curtains of “Conservatism,” and voted to enable the “Controlling Republicans,” have only to blame themselves for allowing this to happen.
